The boys both played soccer this year for the first time. Neither one particularly loves it, and neither one showed any particular gift for it, but it was a good foray into team sports, and Saturday was the end-of-year tournament.
Not necessarily to correspond with the tournament, but a good reason for it, the kids had mohawks so we dyed them red. Temporary dye, and the mohawks get removed today. Here they are before the tournament began:
And a side view:
Will is happy playing soccer if he gets to kick the ball.
Will is pretty much miserable the rest of the time (he's sitting on his coach's knee crying in this one.)
Will's game is a lot of sulking, with small bursts of running (He's number 9).
But Will loves being part of a team, and loves slapping hands with the other team at the end! Bonus points for learning good sportsmanship.
Tom doesn't cry when playing, but isn't overly thrilled about it, either. He is mostly distracted by his molars coming in (I wish he'd get his hands out of his mouth these days) or by his hair.
He gets to kick the ball sometimes, too.
He looks like a soccer superstar in this one.
Look at him go!
Another burst of running by Will...
Followed by a rest. (Yeah, this is kind of embarrassing.)
But Tom doesn't pay attention much better - his coach is doling out advice, and Tom's picking grass.
But they both liked it, and it's done for this season, so we'll see how everyone feels about it next year!
