Well, summer passed as summers do, with lots of time spent in the sandbox and outside playing. Tom's cast was on for 6 weeks, then he had a boot cast (removable) for another 6 weeks, then he had the boot cast when he was playing for another few weeks. All in all he broke his leg on May 1 and was given the all-clear in mid September - a long haul for a 5-year-old. He was a trooper, and while he did complain about the exercises he had to do to strengthen his calf muscle he really did do a great job.
And now, suddenly, we're finding the days are getting much shorter, the weather more drizzly, and we're looking forward to winter. Last week Tom suggested we put up the Christmas tree and Will followed with "presents all around!" They're rushing through fall faster than I'd like!
Here are some pics from the end of our summer - we were quite busy this summer so there were fewer pictures than I'd like! The boys move so fast these days it's hard to get a picture!
Here's Will, looking cute while playing outside.
Here are the boys riding their bikes on August 16. That was the first day Tom was cleared to ride his bike again after breaking his leg! He was VERY happy to get back on.
Tom and Will are preparing to race.
Then along comes Grandpa on his motorbike - the race is on! I think he let Tom win...
And before I knew it, Tom was staring school again. He loves school so it was a joyous occasion all around.
Straub has been taking Tom climbing lately - Tom's really starting to like it. Here he is, 100 feet up, at the top of the chimney. What a brave little guy!
And while you're there, you really must enjoy the view of the city.
